History

With more than six decades of entrepreneurship, 2201 is now active in a range of business lines in several countries.

Creation

Sicomin, founded in 1946 , was headed by Charles Marcovich after a distinguished career in the Free French Forces.
The name Sicomin is a contraction of Société International for COMmerce and INdustry.

In 1980’s

The company is dedicated to the distribution in France of fatty acids representing Unilever plants until the 1980’s.

Philippe Marcovich, the current president, with a passion for sailing and new materials, opened within Sicomin, in 1983 a composite materials department.

The success of this new department lead to the set up of a plant and a laboratory in Châteauneuf-les-Martigues (near Marseille) in 1985, with Sicomin becoming a recognized formulator and supplier of epoxy resins and composite materials.

In 2007

In 2007, Sicomin expanded its plant, while its other site in western France grows to best service its customers throughout the Atlantic coast.
Creation of Map Yachting, a company specialising in paints and finishing systems for naval, military and high-tech industries.

In 2014

In 2014, Sicomin is investing in a new construction which will total 7000m² of facilities in order to increase its production capacity to best pursue its developments in France and worldwide.

In 2019

In 2019, creation of Maxcore, a new method of inserting dry fibres into sandwich core sheets for the infusion manufacture of large composite parts for the civil engineering, transport, wind energy and marine industries.

In 2021

In 2021, creation of ACCWing, a high performance flexible wing for all types of sailboats, including the largest ones.

In 2022

On 22 January 2022, the creation of the company 2201 took place.

The 2201 group is guided by the entrepreneurial spirit. The adventure began in 1946 when the grandfather of the current shareholders created his company.
